Chanel Cupcakes

A girl should be two things: classy and fabulous.
Coco Chanel

I'll be the first to admit that my baking is not always the most aesthetically pleasing.  Half of the time I get frustrated when things aren't turning out as I hoped, which often spirals straight into disaster.  I don't have any patience.  This is a flaw that I am working on.
A few weeks ago, I made some Chanel-inspired cupcakes.  I was looking to make something that was both "classy and fabulous" but wouldn't cause me any frustration.   What I ended up with was this:

Black buttercream, white royal icing rose topper -- I know, it doesn't get much simplier.  You'll have to forgive the silver foil wrappers.  I bought them not noticing that were completely wrinkled and, despite my best efforts, they would not even out.  All-in-all, I think I was able to capture a little bit of Chanel in my cupcakes.

The Chanel compact featured in the photos above I bought when I was last in Paris.  I had been searching for the compact at different boutiques in my hometown but wasn’t able to lay my hands on one.  Thankfully the flagship store on the Avenue Montaigne had some available.  I was so pleased when I finally found one!
